CATON’S CUBS – Legacy keepsakes for families of Arkansas Hospice Pediatric Patients

By arhospice on March 5th, 2019

A Hot Springs native, Caton Jones held a spirit in his soul much larger than his 19 years of age. He lived genuinely, with passion. As a drummer, Caton marched with a warrior spirit.

Caton’s story

On the morning of January of 8, 2016, while home on break from Arkansas State University, Caton was traveling to work as a passenger when an accident lead to what most thought would be fatal. But, Caton’s warrior spirit would not allow him to stop fighting.

For months, Caton persevered through the recovery of multiple life threatening injuries to his head and body. While in rehab, cancer was discovered in Caton’s jaw.

On November 11, 2016, Caton lost the battle with cancer, but claimed the final victory by entering into eternity with his Lord.

How Caton’s Cubs arrived

Lisa Jones of Hot Springs, Caton’s mother, founded a nonprofit in his honor. Through this program, funding is being provided to Arkansas Hospice to enable the purchase of teddy bears, that when squeezed, play the heartbeat sound of a patient.

Arkansas Hospice care team members will capture and upload the heartbeat sounds to the bears, then provide them to the families of patients.

How you can participate

Funds are being raised by Arkansas Hospice Foundation for the purchase of Doppler recording devices, which are needed to record the sound of a patient’s heartbeat for Caton’s Cubs. Donations for these units and other expenses related to the program can be made to Arkansas Hospice Foundation.

“This is the best Christmas present ever!”
